John G. Williams Distinguished Professors

Thanks to the drive, energy and ebullient good spirits of the school’s founder, the late John G. Williams, the architecture program has grown from two courses offered within the College of Engineering into a nationally competitive design school.

In 1993, the School of Architecture honored Williams with the creation of an endowment that brings leaders in the design professions to campus to teach, inspire and mentor students. Since 1997, the following distinguished professors have contributed to the program:

  • Maurizio Ranzi, Universita degli Studi Roma Tre, Rome, Italy, 2001
  • Chris Risher, architect, Jackson, Miss. and Ed Blake, ASLA, The Landscape Studio, Hattiesburg, Miss., 2000
  • Edward Durell Stone, Jr., FASLA, EDSA, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., 1999

The endowment is funded by individual contributions of at least $1,000.  If you are interested in becoming a John G. Williams fellow, please contact Terry Bumgardner at tbumgar@uark.edu or 479/575-7384.
