Prof. Marlon Blackwell, Alumnus Jack See Elevated to AIA College of Fellows

The American Institute of Architects recently elevated School of Architecture professor Marlon Blackwell and alumnus Jack See Jr.  (B.Arch. '58) to its prestigious College of Fellows, an honor awarded to members who have made contributions of national significance to the profession.  Blackwell and See were among 112 architects so honored this year, and join a select list of 26 Arkansas architects who have been inducted into the AIA College of Fellows.

Out of a membership of more than 86,000, there are fewer than 2,600 AIA members distinguished with the honor of fellowship.  It is conferred on architects with at least 10 years of membership in the AIA who have made significant contributions in areas ranging from education to public service. Blackwell, who heads his own Fayetteville firm, was elected to receive this honor because of his contributions to design. See, who is a principal with Little Rock firm Wittenburg, Delony and Davidson Architects, was honored for his volunteer work.

The new fellows, who are entitled to use the designation "FAIA" following their names, will be invested in the College of Fellows at the 2009 AIA National Convention and Design Exposition in San Francisco on May 1.
