Karen Stair Executive Assistant to the Dean and the Director of Development Attended the University of Central Arkansas and the University of Arkansas kstair@uark.edu 479/575-2702

Karen Stair is executive assistant to the school’s dean and director of development and the building manager of Vol Walker Hall. During her sixteen years with the School of Architecture she has provided invaluable support to two deans, three directors of development, eight departments heads, and approximately 100 faculty members. Karen helped to establish the Dean’s Circle and the Community Design Center, managed the recent yearlong renovation of Vol Walker Hall and has planned and coordinated some 90 events, including two all-school reunions.  She was born and raised in Arkansas and previously worked for the University of Central Arkansas in Conway.

Since she joined the school’s staff in 1992, Karen has had three children graduate from the University of Arkansas, has seen four children marry, and has celebrated the births of eight grandchildren. She and her husband Troy adopted their fifth child, Cadi, from the Jilin province of China in 2000.

Meeting people is Karen’s favorite part of her job – and she’s always glad to cuddle a baby!
