Landscape architecture professional electives

Often taught by visiting professors who bring fresh perspectives and new skills to campus, these professional electives deepen students’ understanding of landscape architecture. Past topics include:

  • Historic landscape preservation
  • Sustainable residential design
  • Professional portfolio design
  • Alternative stormwater management

Students generally take these courses in their third, fourth or fifth year in the program. They also are encouraged to meet their professional elective requirements by taking courses in related disciplines such as geography, horticulture and art. Students also may pursue coursework – and minors – in subjects such as business, literature and Latin American studies.
