Since 1991 the Department of Landscape Architecture has been housed in Memorial Hall, originally the University's student union. Completed in 1940 with funding from the Public Works Administration (PWA), Memorial Hall is a modified Gothic and Classical Revival structure with an Art Deco-style lobby leading to the landscape architecture offices on the first floor. A spacious studio in the former union ballroom accommodates all students in the program, facilitating interaction between lower- and upper-level students. Memorial Hall is one of the historic buildings that articulate the northern boundary of the University of Arkansas and is located close to Vol Walker Hall, Old Main and Mullins Library.
